The Commission on Gender-Based Violence & Domestic Violence<\/span><\/a> within the Ministry for Equality Research and Innovation<\/a> is proud of a very important collaboration with the \u00a0Ministry of Education<\/a> – the launch of the Safe Dates Pilot Project in secondary schools that was announced today.<\/p>\n

This is an evidence-based programme with the aim of sensitising young people about abusive relationships, their power to say no, and to seek support for themselves and others who may need it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Safe Dates Programme\/Pilot project will kick off this scholastic year with the participation of four schools in four different colleges, including Year 10 students from SCC Pembroke Secondary and has been welcomed by the educators involved as a necessary and significant inclusion in the PSCD syllabus.<\/div>\n

This important contribution to the education of young people initiated by the Commission is happening during the 16 days of Activism 2021. It is the fruit of focused study, research and dialogue, finally a team effort that includes the collaboration of E.O.s of PSCD and their team of dedicated teachers, as well as the fine performance of students from the The Malta Visual And Performing Arts school<\/a> who, with the guidance of the E.O. Drama brought to life the script of the Safe Dates play, which is one of the resources in the programme. Huge thanks to everyone involved in this endeavour to eradicate gender-based violence!
